Alta Badia and the Sella Ronda

The Alta Badia (1,300–1,600 m) is the Ladin high valley on the eastern side of the Sella with 130 km of mostly gentle, sunny pistes, the Gran Risa World Cup slope at La Villa, and direct access to the Sella Ronda and the 1,200 km of Dolomiti Superski. Corvara is the largest village with the most lifts and shops; San Cassiano and La Villa are known for their gourmet hotels and mountain restaurants.

The valley is a favourite of guests who value food, scenery and wide, quiet pistes over nightlife.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Alta Badia

We take the Brenner motorway into Italy and the A22 to Bressanone, then the Pustertal road to San Lorenzo and the Val Badia road through Badia to La Villa, San Cassiano or Corvara – about 2 hours. This route avoids the high passes and is reliable in winter.

Corvara and Colfosco at the top of the valley add ten minutes; the road is a main road served by buses and is cleared constantly.
