Hochgurgl and the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area

Hochgurgl is a cluster of hotels on the Timmelsjoch road above Obergurgl, linked to it by the Top Express gondola. Together they form Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, with 112 km of pistes between 1,800 and 3,080 m one of the most snow-sure areas in the Alps, with a season from mid-November to the end of April. The pistes are wide and uncrowded, and the Top Mountain Crosspoint at the base houses Europe's highest motorcycle museum.

The Sölden glaciers and the rest of the Ötztal are covered by the Ötztal Super Ski Pass; Obergurgl with its village centre is five minutes down the road.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Hochgurgl

We drive the Inn valley motorway west to the Ötztal exit, then the Ötztal road through Längenfeld and Sölden to Obergurgl and the last few hairpins up to Hochgurgl – about 1 hour 30 minutes. The road ends at Hochgurgl in winter (the Timmelsjoch pass is closed), so there is no through traffic.

The final climb is steep but well maintained; our vehicles use winter tyres and carry chains.

FAQ

Here you will find answers to our transfer services.

How long is the taxi from Innsbruck Airport to Hochgurgl?

About 1 hour 30 minutes for 100 km. By train to Ötztal Bahnhof and bus up the valley allow around two and a half to three hours with two changes.

Yes – the Ötztal road is a main road and is cleared constantly; only in exceptional avalanche situations is it closed for a few hours. Our drivers know the conditions.

Do you also drive to Obergurgl?

Yes, Obergurgl is a separate fixed-price route – slightly cheaper because it is a few minutes closer.
