Igls is Innsbruck's own mountain village on the terrace above the city, 11 km and about 20 minutes from the airport. Tirol Airport Shuttle drives you there at a fixed price – meet & greet in the arrivals hall, flight tracking and luggage service included.

Guests choose Igls for the Patscherkofel, the spa hotels and the tram into the old town; the taxi brings you from the terminal to your hotel without a change and without carrying your skis through the city.

Igls and the Patscherkofel

Igls (900 m) is a village of hotels, villas and a small centre with a church square, 5 km above Innsbruck. The Patscherkofel (2,246 m) above it hosted the men's Olympic downhill in 1964 and 1976 – Franz Klammer's famous run – and today offers around 20 km of pistes served by a modern gondola, plus the Olympic bob and luge track where visitors can ride as passengers.

The historic tram line 6 links Igls with Innsbruck city centre in about 25 minutes, and the Nordkette, Axamer Lizum, Kühtai and Glungezer ski areas are all within 30 minutes by car.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Igls

From the airport we cross the city on the ring road, pass the Bergisel ski jump and climb through Vill to Igls – about 20 minutes. The road is a main road served by city buses and is cleared immediately after snowfall.

Lans, Sistrans and Patsch on the same terrace are fixed-price routes too and take only a few minutes longer.

Good to know

  • The Patscherkofel gondola base is at the edge of the village; most hotels are within walking distance or on the free ski bus.
  • The Innsbruck ski pass covers 13 ski areas including the Patscherkofel, Axamer Lizum, Kühtai and the Stubai Glacier.
  • For your return flight, 1 h 30 min from Igls to the airport is plenty.
