Itter and the Hohe Salve
Itter (703 m) is a village of a few hundred inhabitants with a castle, a church and a handful of hotels and guesthouses – the choice of guests who want the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental (around 270 km of pistes) without the bustle of Söll or Ellmau. The Salvenbahn gondola on the edge of the village goes straight up the Hohe Salve (1,829 m), the panoramic mountain at the centre of the SkiWelt.
Söll with its shops, ski schools and night skiing is five minutes away by ski bus or taxi; Hopfgarten and the Brixental are just as close in the other direction.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Itter
We leave Innsbruck on the A12 Inn valley motorway, pass Schwaz and Wörgl and leave the motorway at Wörgl-Ost. Itter is then a few minutes up the valley road towards Söll and Hopfgarten. 77 km, about 1 hour 3 minutes in normal traffic.
Most accommodation in Itter is on the slope above the main road; your driver takes you to the door, not to a bus stop on the valley road.
