Niederau and the Markbachjoch
Niederau (830 m) is a compact village with the Markbachjoch gondola in the centre, ski schools, a good nursery area and the largest choice of hotels in the Wildschönau. The Markbachjoch slopes (up to 1,500 m) suit beginners and intermediates; the ski bus takes you to Auffach and the Schatzberg for the longer runs of the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with around 109 km of pistes.
The village has a friendly après-ski scene, a few bars and restaurants and Wörgl with its shops and railway station is 15 minutes down the hill.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Niederau
We follow the Inn valley motorway east to Wörgl and climb the Wildschönau road to Niederau, which is the first village you reach. About 1 hour 5 minutes in normal traffic; the road is cleared regularly in winter.
Hotels on the upper part of the village and the chalets towards Oberau are a few minutes further – your driver takes you to the door.

How far is Niederau from Innsbruck Airport?
75 km, about 1 hour 5 minutes by taxi. By train to Wörgl and bus 4064 up to Niederau it takes about two and a half hours with two changes.
Do you pick up from Salzburg Airport as well?
Yes – Niederau is also a fixed-price route from Salzburg Airport (about 2 hours). Innsbruck is the shorter option.
