Oberau and the Ski Juwel
Oberau (936 m) has the valley's church, school, shops and a range of hotels and apartments, with the Riedlberg family slope and a floodlit toboggan run in the village. For the main ski area guests take the free ski bus to Niederau (Markbachjoch) or Auffach (Schatzberg); together with Alpbach they form the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with around 109 km of pistes and 45 lifts.
Oberau is quieter than Niederau, with a traditional village feel, cross-country trails and winter walking paths along the valley.
