Seefeld: Olympic region on the plateau

Seefeld (1,180 m) hosted the Nordic events of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and the 2019 Nordic World Championships and remains Austria's best-known cross-country destination with around 245 km of trails. Alpine skiers use the Rosshütte area (up to 2,064 m) and the Gschwandtkopf family slopes; the pedestrian village centre is known for its five-star hotels, spa resorts, the casino and a Christmas market.

Leutasch, Mösern and Reith bei Seefeld on the same plateau are part of the same region and are also fixed-price routes from the airport.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to Seefeld

We leave the airport westwards on the Inn valley motorway to Zirl and climb the Zirler Berg, one of Austria's steepest main roads, onto the Seefeld plateau. In dry conditions the transfer takes about 25 minutes; in heavy snow the road is cleared constantly and our drivers have winter tyres and chains on board.

Alternatively we can take the road via Telfs and Mösern, which avoids the steep section – useful in bad weather or for guests staying at the western end of the plateau.

Good to know

  • Seefeld has a railway station on the Innsbruck–Garmisch line; for a hotel on the plateau the taxi is nevertheless faster door to door.
  • For Leutasch or Mösern add 10 minutes to the journey time.
  • Allow 2 hours from your hotel in Seefeld to departure at Innsbruck Airport.

FAQ

Here you will find answers to our transfer services.

How far is Seefeld from Innsbruck Airport?

22 km, about 25 minutes by taxi over the Zirler Berg. By bus to the main station and train to Seefeld allow about an hour and a quarter including the change.

Is the Zirler Berg safe in winter?

Yes. It is a main road that is cleared and gritted round the clock. Our vehicles use winter tyres and carry snow chains, and in extreme weather we can use the alternative road via Telfs.

Do you offer a return transfer to the airport?

Of course. Book the return at the same time – we pick you up at your hotel at the agreed time and plan the journey so you reach the terminal with time to spare.
