The Wildschönau and Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau
The Wildschönau (900–1,100 m) is a family destination: Niederau has the Markbachjoch gondola and the largest choice of hotels, Oberau is the main village with the church and shops, and Auffach at the head of the valley is the gateway to the Schatzberg. Since the Schatzberg was linked to the Wiedersberger Horn above Alpbach, the two valleys form the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with around 109 km of pistes and 45 lifts.
The ski area is known for wide, sunny slopes, good ski schools and reasonable prices – most guests are families from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.

The journey from Innsbruck Airport to the Wildschönau
We drive the Inn valley motorway east to Wörgl and then climb the Wildschönau road with its hairpin bends to Niederau (about 1 hour 5 minutes), Oberau (1 hour 5 minutes) and Auffach (about 1 hour 15 minutes). The road is a main road with regular bus service and is cleared quickly after snowfall.

How long is the journey from Innsbruck Airport?
Between 1 hour 5 minutes for Niederau and about 1 hour 15 minutes for Auffach. By train to Wörgl and bus into the valley it takes about two and a half hours with two changes.
